Meet our Founder


Torn Curtain's founder, Charles Rice, served in the youth ministries department at WCVZ Christian Radio (in Zanesville, Ohio) from 1991 to 2000, serving as the station's youth director for seven of those nine years. He is a seasoned minister with experience in pastoral and youth ministry, residential care (MR/DD), Bible teaching, and counseling. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Christian Counseling, and his associate's degree is in Biblical Studies. He is an ordained minister, Certified Pastoral Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (Ohio), Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Certified Biblical Counselor. He is also certified in the use of several parenting education programs. He is a member of the International Association of Biblical Counselors, the American Association of Christian Counselors, the International Association of Pastoral Counselors, the Ohio Practitioners' Network for Fathers and Families, and the National Network of Youth Ministries.


His wife, Heather, is also involved with Torn Curtain Ministries. She holds a bachelor's degree in Individual and Family Studies, and is employed by an area social service agency. She is a certified parent educator and is a member of the Ohio Association for Infant Mental Health.
